The Boys Are Back

Greetings Sports Readers:

It has been many months since we at sportsconversation.com have last given people anything to talk about, and while we were appreciating some much needed time off, we have caved in to the demands of the masses. We have received thousands of emails and posts demanding the return of the trio that brought such wisdom and strength to so many. So here we are. Back again.

Sherman Takes Over

Sherman and RCHutch: You can bet A&M AD Bill Byrne is glad this process is over.  Its been no secret that Dennis Francione’s time in Aggieland was pretty much done at halftime of the Miami game this year.  Since then, Byrne has been burning up the phone lines to find what the next head coach at A&M.  When Byrne held a press conference after the win against Texas, he stated a “national search will begin today.”  But Bill, you aren’t fooling anyone.  We all saw the writing on the wall and A&M hired you to be one of the best ADs in the nation.  We knew you had your guy.

Byrne national search landed him down HWY 6 to Houston and to Texans OC Mike Sherman.  He was possibly the 4th or 5th option on many “experts” list of candidates, but he was number one on Byrne’s.  While fans wanted a ”big name” hire, Byrne wanted a leader, a winner, and perhaps most of all, an Aggie.

Sherman’s resume is pretty impressive.  He spend the better part of the 90’s as OL coach at A&M, then left to Read the rest of this entry »
